Final thoughts
Rough notes
Trust - book
Thoughts:
- love Helens character but wish could be more in depth? Not sure what she is in the story, but I guess can relate w the dilemma of being rich vs charity and I can see it being smth that disturbs her
 - Benjamin’s ways of making money seems obscure, is there somethig more to it?
 - Core idea: Working on smth that is against value: like Ida working on a businessman
 - Who is Vanner?
 - Rejection: how to know if it’s rejection, disdainful, shyness or fear or smth else
 - Passion and contributions as private matters; ppl in our circle know abt me
 - Another theme is: revisioning history. Rewriting history. His attempt in rewriting history by literally asking to change. Means - need to be v critical about the story we tell. Was listening to Tech Wont Save Us how tech companies use PR to make up stories about how they build their own companies.
 - Ida’s dad on slavery. Need to read: how the world got rich.
 - Andrew: want to reduce his wife to an unremarkable figure.
 - Harold Vanner; also not noble - made it for the sensation, see Blonde on how Blonde is for drama. “Made to offer the spectacle of their own ruin.”
 - Some odd feelings: not in depth, felt like j didnt rly know her, rly focused on her illness and drama, even had to throw a little bit of a love affair too? What the fuck was that.
 - Andrew wants to make her image more accessible, but why? Why women cannot be complex? the emphasis on feminine touch, feminine sympathy. Private life. Why?
 - Making his ideas first, if this isnt too familiar. A certain ceo who wont be named is exagtly loke this like we need to work around him instead of just doing the work
